Why Should I use Handmade Soap?

There are a lot of reasons, the main reason is your skin will be much happier! With commercially made soap, the glycerine, that'e the part of the soap that helps you maintain the moisture in your skin, is removed. The glycerine can then be put in lotions. That's why commercially made soap seems to be so drying, particularly if you use it on your face, whereas handmade soap retains the naturally occuring glycerine, and it's about 25%, your skin can tell the dofference, you wont need to constantly slather in lotion! And yes, use it on your face with no fear!

Another thing is you will not find ingredients that you can't pronouce, let alone know what they are! Things like Sodium Laryl Sulfate, which is a deterdent, it's a foaming agent commonly found in household cleaners. Start reading your labels, it's  really eye opener!

Lastly we use vegetable oils rather than animal fats. Most commercially made soap is made with cow fat, you will usually see it as "sodium tallowate". We prefer the mild, skin loving Olive Oil rather than that. We also use things like honey (emollient), Shea Butter (in many soaps) and Vitamin E.

Why Goat Milk?

Goat Milk has been used for centuries as a natural cleanser. Its full of vitamins and Caprylic Acid which helps your complexion, as well as Alpha Hydroxy Acids. It adds a wonderul creamy quality to the lather, and the thing it's most known for it that it makes the pH of the soap, much closer to the pH of our skin's own natural pH, which makes it VERY mild for sensitive skin. We used to make the soap without Goat Milk, and once we tried it, that was it, never went back!

Whats' the best way make my soap last?

If you let your soap dry between uses, it will last you much longer, don't let it sit in a puddle of water, it will go away! Any soap will, but you don't want to watse the good stuff!
Soap actually gets better as it ages, as long as it can get some air, the moisture will continue to evaporate out, making the bar harder so it will last longer. While you're waiting to use your soap, you can place it in a drawer or closet, it will make those smell wonderful too!
The average life of a bar of our soap is two weeks, that depends on course of the habits of the bather, and how many bathers there are!
